This season's hour-long Fall Youth Concerts feature Bach's third
Brandenburg Concerto, Beethoven's
Symphony No. 5, Berlioz's
Damnation of Faust Copland's
Appalachian Spring, Mozart's
Symphony No. 40 and Rossini's
William Tell Overture, along with the winner of the MSO's 2010 Fall Youth Concerto Competition. You'll find out how some of the most popular works are based on something as simple as a three-note motif! Have fun with your students as they discover more about these works that have become a part of our everyday lives through video games, cartoons, movies and commercials.
Let the MSO help you prepare your students for these concerts at no extra charge. We'll send one of the MSO's professional musicians and a Madison Symphony Orchestra League member to your classroom to introduce the musical works, the composers and concert etiquette, all in fun and engaging ways. Each year, elementary school music teachers count on visits from MSO
docents to help their students prepare and give them a chance to participate by preparing drawings and other projects in response to the music. If you would like a visit from our docents, just indicate so on your registration form.
CONCERTS FOR UPPER ELEMENTARY & MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS
The MSO's Fall Youth Concerts reach nearly 6,000 elementary school children each year. They provide students with the opportunity to experience classical music the way it was meant to be heard...live!
THE CONCERT EXPERIENCE
The Fall Youth Concerts enrich, engage and inspire through themed, multi-dimensional performances that include photos of artwork the children have created in response to the music, introductions to works by Music Director John DeMain, and inspiring performances by the children's peers: the winners of the MSO's
Fall Youth Concerto Competition.
