OPEN DRESS REHEARSALS

Inviting the Community In
The MSO is one of the few orchestras in the nation that allows the public to attend its dress rehearsals free of charge. Advance reservations are required so that the MSO can monitor attendance and maintain this free program for the community. Registration opens approximately one month prior to each event. You may reserve your place on this website or call 608.257.3734. Attendance is limited to the first 250 reservations to preserve the professional decorum of a working rehearsal.

Open Dress Rehearsal Facts & Considerations
This is a community service that is free and open to the public. For it to remain so, we ask your cooperation in observing these common courtesies and considerations.
  • Advance registration is required, and attendance is limited to the first 250 reservations to maintain the professional decorum of a working rehearsal. Registration opens approximately one month prior to each event. You may reserve your place on this website or call 608.257.3734.
  • Due to the large volume of reservations, no tickets will be issued, nor will you receive a confirmation of your reservation.
  • Dress rehearsals last 2 1/2 to 3 hours total, with a 15-minute break approximately half-way through (around 8:15 PM). If you must leave during the rehearsal, please do so quietly, or wait until the break.
  • The rehearsal may sound like a complete concert because the orchestra has been rehearsing all week.
However, you will hear the conductor interrupt the music and point out various areas that need improvement.
  • There is no age restriction on open dress rehearsals. However, we ask that you swiftly remove crying or noisy children.
  • Please refrain from talking, reading newspapers and unwrapping candies during the rehearsal. These actions create noise that is disruptive to the conductor and the musicians.
  • Please silence paging devices, cell phones and watch alarms before entering the rehearsal.
  • Use of cameras or recording devices (including camera phones) is strictly prohibited.
  • Thank you and enjoy!
